I was born in Victoria, BC, and spent most of my life living on the west coast. I lived in Squamish as a youth, Campbell River as a Teen, and Nanaimo as an adult. I acknowledge that I reside and work on the unceded lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, of the Snuneymuxw First Nations, Stz’uminus First Nations. Snaw-Naw-As First Nations and the Mid Island Metis Nation, for over 20 years. I have been an active community member and enjoy hiking, mountain biking, running, and getting our pup out for long walks.
I am a father to two lovely kids and my wife and I just celebrated our 17th anniversary. I graduated from Malaspina (VIU) in early 2001 and found myself working at a residential addiction treatment facility as an addiction counsellor. I am privileged to walk alongside people when they are looking to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

In your first session, we will discuss confidentiality, my credentials, the purpose of attending counseling, the benefits and risks of the counseling process, and any other concerns you may have.
This first appointment is about establishing if I am the right counsellor for you. This is a collaborative discussion about your goals for therapy and the resources and skills you already possess to achieve them. A presenting concern will likely arise during this conversation, and we will discuss an approach to making changes toward your goals.
My approach to therapy is collaborative. Clients have expressed their appreciation for this approach, as it allows you to set your own unique pace and process. My role is to honor those choices and offer experience and suggestions from current best practices in the field.
As each individual is unique, my approach may vary depending on your perspective, and this will be discussed during your first session.
Addressing immediate concerns and suggesting strategies to alleviate current stressors is a practical approach for achieving short-term goals. I offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), life skills coaching, or Dialectical Behaviour inspired Therapy (DBT).
Aside from all the finer details, my approach is grounded in body therapy, integrated body psychotherapy (IBP) as an effective way of addressing current issues such as trauma and addictive behaviors as a long-term solution. I believe that when you are empowered with the correct information and guidance, managing the symptoms of your mental health becomes second nature, and addressing the root of the issue increases your overall mental health.
